Musical Storybooks

Looking for a way to engage elementary school and/or special education students with fun, interactive learning? Combining books with music equals a good time and a surefire learning experience! Learn the value, benefits and requirements of musical storytelling and hear book talks on books that can be successfully paired with music. Participants will receive tips on where to find the books and materials needed. The three presenters from the fields of school library media and music education will share their experience collaborating to engage students with various disabilities via musical storybooks.


Dana Gleason is a music teacher in the Broome-Tioga BOCES in Binghamton, NY. She serves students aged 8-21 who are enrolled in special education and alternative education classes.
